Job summary

GrayMatter seeks a Senior Control Systems Design Engineer to serve as the on-site technical lead for automation, controls, instrumentation and SCADA across a multi-year South Florida water and wastewater program. You will oversee design review and construction support while partner teams handle PLC/SCADA programming hands-on work.

The role requires extensive experience in industrial automation, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate across multiple design firms.

Qualifications

• 15–20 years of experience in industrial or municipal automation, controls, instrumentation and SCADA systems.
• Experience reviewing specifications, drawings, RFIs and construction submittals on capital projects.
• Working knowledge of PLC/SCADA design to review programming for correctness; hands‑on programming not required.
• Understanding of medium- and low-voltage electrical design principles; hands‑on electrical design not required.

Responsibilities

• Review and markup specifications and drawings for the well field and treatment plants; support RFI responses and bid package review during design.
• Identify and document conflicts between design documents and field conditions; drive resolutions in the county's best interests.
• Review SCADA/PLC programming and panel design for consistency; flag and resolve inconsistencies across teams.
