Job summary

Duke University seeks a Senior Project Manager, Capital Projects in Durham, NC to lead complex construction and renovation initiatives from concept through occupancy. You will partner with faculty, staff, administrators, design professionals, contractors, and Facilities Management to deliver spaces that support learning, research, healthcare, and innovation.

You will independently manage a diverse portfolio of capital projects, guiding planning, design, construction, commissioning, and turnover

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Equivalent combination of technical training, education, knowledge, and experience may be considered.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in construction, design, engineering, or project management.
• Experience overseeing all project phases from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and occupancy.
• Experience managing capital budgets, project schedules, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead Capital Projects from Start to Finish: manage all phases of projects including planning, programming, design, construction, commissioning, occupancy, and closeout.
• Build Strong Partnerships: collaborate with university clients and stakeholders throughout the lifecycle.
• Manage Design and Construction Excellence: guide selection and management of architects, engineers, and contractors.
• Drive Financial and Schedule Performance: develop and monitor budgets, schedules, and financial reports.
• Support Safety and Operational Excellence: review safety plans and coordinate permits and inspections.
• Mentor and Develop Others: provide guidance and process improvements within the team.
