Job summary

Google Public Sector seeks a Security Platform Engineer to design, build, and manage cloud-native security platforms in Kubernetes-based environments. You will contribute to scalable tooling, automate security controls, and enable robust detection across our private cloud infrastructure.

The role involves on-call rotation to respond to security incidents and close collaboration with incident response teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in security engineering, DevSecOps, or platform engineering roles.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Go, or Bash.
• Experience with Kubernetes security, including RBAC, network policies, and observability tools such as Falco, Prometheus, Grafana.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD).
• Active or ability to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) UK security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and manage cloud security platform tools including SIEM, IDS/IPS, and CWPP.
• Develop and implement security monitoring and logging strategies.
• Investigate and analyse security incidents, identify root causes, scope, containment, and remediation actions.
• Perform forensic analysis to identify and investigate suspicious activity.
• Automate security tasks and workflows to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
