Job summary

Kardow is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test to join our Kansas City engineering team. The role blends manual and automated testing to deliver reliable web applications and APIs, with a focus on building scalable test frameworks.

You will collaborate with developers, product owners, and QA peers in an Agile environment, contribute to sprint planning, and drive testing strategy and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, Software Testing, or SDET roles.
• Experience with both manual and automated testing methodologies.
• Hands‑on experience testing RESTful APIs.
• Experience utilizing Confluence for documentation and collaboration.
• Experience building or maintaining automated testing frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or JUnit.
• Programming experience with Java, JavaScript, or similar languages.
• Exposure to cloud-based environments, specifically GCP and Databricks.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills in a cross‑functional Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases for web applications and APIs.
• Build and maintain automated test frameworks to improve testing efficiency and software quality.
• Perform API validation and integration testing to ensure application reliability.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders throughout the SDLC.
• Identify, document, and track software defects and drive timely resolution with development teams.
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, code reviews, and testing strategy discussions.
• Validate new features through functional, regression, integration, and end‑to‑end testing.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives around testing processes and automation best practices.
• Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and identify risks before production releases.
