Job summary

Nexus Family Healing in Austin, MN, is seeking a full-time Behavior Specialist for New Dominion School on campus. You will provide academic therapeutic crisis intervention to youth within the school setting to contribute to positive outcomes and brighter futures!!

The role requires at least a high school diploma or GED, 2 years in a school/day treatment or residential setting, and a valid driver’s license. Handle with Care training is required, with a focus on diversity and privacy.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a school, day treatment or residential treatment setting with behavior intervention responsibilities.
• Valid driver’s license required and must meet state driving requirements.
• Ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities.
• Open to meeting cultural needs, considering language, traditions and values.
• Must pass MN criminal background check.
• Complete a two-day Handle with Care exam/training.

Responsibilities

• Maintains orderly transitions during mornings, class transitions, lunch and breaks, departures and field trips.
• Ensures student compliance with rules relating to conduct, appearance, hygiene, grooming and behavior goals.
• Participates in developing IEP behavior goals and progress meetings with staff and parents.
• Complies with privacy and confidentiality policies.
• Communicates clearly and professionally with clients, coworkers, families and external contacts.
• Engages in crisis interventions and applying de-escalation techniques when appropriate.
