Job summary

Nexus Family Healing is seeking a Behavior Specialist to join the team at New Dominion School on Nexus' campus in Austin, MN. This full-time, on-site position supports students with academic therapeutic crisis intervention to promote positive outcomes within the school setting.

You will lead transitions, support IEP behavior goals, and collaborate with teachers and families while maintaining privacy and applying de-escalation techniques.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a school/day treatment or residential setting with behavior intervention responsibilities.
• Valid driver’s license; meet state driving requirements.
• Ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities.
• Must pass MN criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Maintains orderly student transitions (morning arrivals, classes, lunch, breaks, and departures).
• Ensures student compliance with rules related to conduct, appearance, hygiene, and behavior goals.
• Participates in developing IEP behavior goals and progress meetings with staff and parents.
• Complies with Nexus policies on privacy and confidentiality for students and families.
• Exhibits professional, respectful communication with clients, coworkers, families and external contacts.

Nexus Family Healing is looking to add a Behavior Specialist to our team at New Dominion School, our on-campus school.

Our Behavior Specialists provide academic therapeutic crisis intervention services to youth within the school setting to contribute to positive outcomes and brighter futures!!

SCHEDULE/PAY/LOCATION:

• Full-time, Monday - Friday on-site at New Dominion School on the campus of Nexus-Gerard Family Healing
• Pay range - $19 - $20/hour
• Located at: 1111 28th St NE, Austin, MN 55912

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains the orderly transition of students during key times: morning arrivals, class transitions, lunch and breaks, afternoon departures and off-campus field trips or other outings.
• Ensures student compliance with rules relating to personal conduct, personal appearance, hygiene, grooming, housekeeping as well as individual behavior goals.
• Participates in developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) behavior goals for Social/Emotional Function section, progress meetings with teaching staff and parents.
• Complies with Nexus' policies involving privacy and confidentiality for students and their families.
• Exhibits clear, professional, respectful, and effective communication when interfacing with clients, coworkers, families and external contacts and willingly share knowledge, information and resources
• Engages in crisis interventions and applying de-escalation techniques when appropriate, while maintaining appropriate boundaries and relationships with students.

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a school, day treatment or residential treatment setting with demonstrated emphasis on behavior intervention responsibilities required.
• Valid driver's license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Nexus Home Office driving requirements.
• Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
• Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values.
• Must successfully pass a MN criminal background check.
• Successfully participate and complete a two-day Handle with Care exam and training.
