Job summary

Kokosing, Inc. is seeking a seasoned safety leader to oversee the on-site Safety program for the Soo Locks project in Detroit, MI.

The role requires directing safety staff, conducting audits, leading incident investigations, and advancing continuous safety improvements across operations. Responsibilities include mentoring safety personnel, ensuring regulatory compliance, analyzing safety data, and coordinating trainings with project teams to foster a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in safety and health or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience.
• 10+ years of experience with safety and health in the construction industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and monitor the Company Safety and Health Program at assigned location(s).
• Balance technical safety expertise with strong interpersonal skills to promote teamwork.
• Supervise, mentor, and manage safety staff to ensure effective application of the Safety and Health Management System.
• Ensure safety staff initiates, performs, and documents safety audits, inspections and conversations.
• Lead investigations into injuries, illnesses, and incidents and develop reduction strategies.
• Develop mitigation strategies with operations managers to reduce injuries and incidents.
• Analyze safety data to support continuous improvement and communicate findings.
• Coordinate safety meetings and training programs with project teams.
