Job summary

BSNC is seeking a seasoned Construction Site Safety and Health Officer to lead safety for federal and commercial construction in the Hanover, MD area. The role requires mentoring field teams, enforcing EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards, and coordinating with government safety representatives to meet project goals.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in construction safety management, strong reading of drawings and specifications, and proven ability to maintain access to secure facilities.

Qualifications

• Education: HS diploma or GED.
• 10+ years as Construction Safety Manager on commercial or federal projects.
• Experience with USACE/DoD/NAVFAC/GSA or similar federal customers.
• OSHA 30 Training (or higher)
• EM 385-1-1 training certificate
• Knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and OSHA requirements
• Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and trades.
• Ability to read/interpret drawings, specs, and contracts.
• Valid Driver's License and US Citizenship.
• Ability to obtain/maintain access to federal/military installations.
• Fluent in English

Responsibilities

• Promote a proactive safety culture across every project.
• Review site safety plans and ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA.
• Coordinate with project team and government safety reps for safety tasks.
• Lead safety discussions in contractor and government meetings.
• Conduct daily safety inspections of site and trades.
• Develop site-specific safety training for all employees.
• Report exposure hours with project QCM and maintain records.
• Address unsafe conditions and model safe work practices.
• Support project quality, field leadership, and client relations.
• Ensure project safety aligns with contract documents and UFC requirements.
