Job summary

Martin Marietta seeks a Safety Lead to champion operational integrity and superior customer service on site. This dual role balances proactive safety leadership with a strong commitment to client satisfaction, acting as the face of the company on the ground.

Responsibilities include safety inspections, incident investigations, PPE and equipment oversight, and coordinating with dispatch and customers to ensure safe, efficient operations in an asphalt/industrial environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience.
• ACI Field Testing Level I Certification is highly preferred.
• 1+ years of experience in Construction, Heavy Building Material, or Asphalt is required;
• 2+ years of Aggregate focused experience is preferred.
• MSHA compliance and safety knowledge.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; customer service oriented.

Responsibilities

• Ensure site-wide adherence to MSHA and internal safety standards.
• Conduct daily safety walks and inspections to identify hazards.
• Lead reporting and investigation of near-misses or incidents with root-cause analysis.
• Review washout areas for drainage, surface, and lighting.
• Facilitate safety orientations for new hires, contractors, and visitors.
• Oversee inspection and maintenance of PPE, fire systems, and first-aid supplies.
• Assist in developing and updating Safe Operating Procedures.
• Organize in-house safety meetings.
• Serve as primary contact for customers and haulage contractors to resolve logistics issues.
• Maximize delivery efficiencies through customer-focused coordination of site events.
• Coordinate with central dispatch on pump relocation, congestion, and hold volumes.
• Manage check-in process for external parties for a safe loading transition.
• Mediate disputes or delays to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Represent company values and build trust with vendors and stakeholders.
• Bridge sales and operations with real-time product availability updates.
• Gather customer feedback to drive site efficiency and safety improvements.
