Job summary

Martin Marietta on-site Safety Lead balances operational integrity with external relations, acting as the face of the company to employees, customers, vendors and contractors. You will ensure safe homecomings and world-class service through a customer-first safety mindset and strong compliance culture.

This role requires proactive safety leadership, incident investigations, daily safety walks, and coordination with dispatch and site operations to optimize loading, access, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience.
• ACI Field Testing Level I Certification is highly preferred.
• 1+ years of experience in Construction, Heavy Building Material, or Asphalt is required; 2+ years of Aggregate focused experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure site-wide adherence to MSHA and internal safety standards.
• Conduct daily safety walks and inspections to identify hazards.
• Lead reporting and investigation of near-misses or incidents with root-cause analysis.
• Review truck washout areas for drainage, walking surface, and lighting.
• Facilitate site-specific safety orientations for new hires, contractors, and visitors.
• Oversee inspection and maintenance of safety equipment including PPE and fire systems.
• Assist management in developing Safe Operating Procedures based on site needs.
• Facilitate and organize in-house safety meetings.
• Serve as primary point of contact for customers and haulage contractors, resolving logistics issues with professionalism.
• Maximize delivery efficiencies through customer-focused coordination of site events.
• Anticipate relocation of pumps, congestion areas, and coordinate with central dispatch.
• Manage check-in process for external parties to ensure safe, welcoming transitions.
• Mediate disputes or delays to maintain customer satisfaction during high-traffic periods.
• Represent Martin Marietta's values and build trust with vendors and community stakeholders.
• Bridge sales and operations with real-time updates on product availability and loading times.
• Collect customer feedback to drive continuous safety and site efficiency improvements.
