Job summary

UT-Battelle’s Isotope Science and Engineering Directorate (ISED) in Oak Ridge, TN seeks a Radioisotope Program Shipment Coordinator to serve as the single point of coordination for DOE‑IRP sponsored material shipments, both on‑site and off‑site, coordinating with the ORNL Transportation team and TAOs.

The role requires expertise in scheduling, documentation, regulatory compliance, and KPI reporting, with a focus on time‑critical isotopes and tight lead times.

Qualifications

• BS degree in a technical, engineering, science, logistics, or supply chain field with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or an MS degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining schedules and developing, tracking, and reporting performance metrics.
• Ability to apply formal procedures consistently and to work within the authority of regulatory and safety organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple organizations, influence without direct authority, and elevate issues clearly and early.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite software.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the ISED single point of coordination for all radioisotope program shipments, coordinating with ORNL Transportation team and TAOs.
• Manage shipment documentation and lead times, ensuring SBMS and ORNL paper requirements are met.
• Develop and maintain the integrated shipment schedule and a rolling 30‑day look‑ahead.
• Provide early notification of forecast shipments for resource planning.
• Protect shipping windows for time‑critical products and coordinate packaging and carrier cutoff times.
• Track readiness of shipments against prerequisites and maintain records.
• Establish and report shipment KPIs and publish weekly/monthly reports.
• Identify at‑risk shipments and coordinate recovery actions with management.
• Lead weekly shipment coordination meetings with stakeholders.
• Coordinate with program integrators and NIDC on customer orders and lead times.
• Develop guidance for staff shipping infrequently and serve as first point of contact for shipment questions.
• Identify and implement process improvements in partnership with Transportation and TSC.
• Support forward capacity planning for transportation resources.
• Maintain shipment coordination records for audits and reviews.
