Job summary

Penn State University is seeking a highly motivated Research & Development Test Engineer to join the Energy Science and Power Systems division at ARL in State College, PA. The role focuses on planning, executing, and analyzing experimental tests for advanced energy systems for underwater applications.

Responsibilities include developing test plans, configuring DAQ systems, and collaborating to fabricate test hardware and fixtures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science and 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and data acquisition hardware.
  • Strong problem-solving and hands-on hardware experience.
  • Ability to document clearly and organize information.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test plans for multi-disciplinary hardware systems.
  • Perform test risk reduction and safety analyses with other engineers.
  • Conduct functional, environmental, and performance tests with lab instruments.
  • Set up test benches, sensors, DAQ hardware and fixtures.
  • Collaborate to fabricate test hardware, prototypes, fixtures.
  • Analyze data, identify anomalies, support root-cause investigations.
