Job summary

Pennsylvania State University’s Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) seeks a Research & Development Test Engineer for the Energy Science and Power Systems division in State College, PA. You will plan, execute, and analyze tests on multidisciplinary hardware, contributing to qualification processes and safety analyses.

Preferred candidates hold advanced degrees and experience with hazardous energetic materials, with opportunities to work on DoD projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • No required certifications as specified in the posting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test plans for multi-disciplinary hardware systems.
  • Perform test risk reduction activities and safety analyses with other engineers.
  • Conduct functional, environmental, and performance tests using laboratory instrumentation.
  • Set up, configure, and verify test benches, sensors, data acquisition hardware, and other measurement equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering support staff to fabricate test hardware, prototypes, and fixtures.
  • Collect, analyze, and document test data; identify anomalies; support root cause investigation.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of qualification processes and quality procedures.
