Job summary

TAM Residential in Texas City is seeking a Porter to maintain cleanliness, safety, and appearance across the community. You will support daily cleaning, upkeep of common areas, and assist the maintenance team to ensure resident satisfaction and a welcoming environment.

No prior maintenance experience is required; strong English communication and customer service are essential. You may travel between TAM communities as needed, with duties including safety adherence and teamwork.

Qualifications

• No previous maintenance experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and spoken).
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills when interacting with residents and staff.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established procedures.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning techniques, tools, and materials.
• Ability to use hand tools and operate cleaning/maintenance equipment safely.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Dependable, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Team-oriented and willing to assist other departments.
• Awareness of safety practices and OSHA standards.
• If driving is required, valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of common areas (offices, laundry, hallways, lobbies, lounges, bathrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways).
• Ensure exterior walks and stairs are hazard-free; store chemicals per guidelines.
• Report to work on time with neat appearance; maintain safe, professional demeanor.
• Check areas for cleanliness throughout the day; keep property inviting.
• Transport trash and waste to disposal areas.
• Replenish bathroom supplies; replace light bulbs; use cleaning tools.
• Operate blower and high-pressure hoses for cleaning walkways and parking areas.
• Assist in preparing vacant apartments for move-in with light cleaning.
• Follow TAM Residential safety standards as described in the employee manual.
• May travel to other TAM communities with own transportation; assist safety concerns.
