Job summary

Actalent in Fort Worth, TX is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to design, program and support automation systems for custom machinery. This hands-on role emphasizes PLCs, HMIs and electrical panels to improve reliability, safety and efficiency.

The engineer will work with maintenance and technical teams, collaborate on projects, and contribute to safety and continuous improvement initiatives while staying current with automation technologies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience with PLCs and automation systems through internships, coursework, or professional work.
Knowledge of PLC programming, HMI development, and control system design.
Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical.

Responsibilities

Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC systems across multiple platforms.
Develop and support HMI interfaces for custom machinery.
Create and update electrical panel drawings using AutoCAD Electrical.
Support installations, commissioning, retrofits, and system integrations.
Troubleshoot control systems, identify root causes, and implement improvements.
Conduct risk assessments and ensure safety standards compliance.
Assist with control system design, component selection, and documentation.
Collaborate with maintenance and technical teams to implement automation solutions.
