Qualifications

• Must have phlebotomy certification or training from a recognized organization or one year of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Preferred: experience with processing lab specimens and handling EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age related standards.
• Provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care.
• Identifies need for patient medical assistance and calls code as appropriate.
• Reviews refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA records and reports findings.
• Procures blood specimens from infant, adult, geriatric, and wheelchair bound patients.
• Orders laboratory tests in computer systems with required physician orders.
• Maintains a low recollection or cancellation rate and multi-tasks effectively.
• Ensures patient safety and follows two patient identifiers as per safety goals.
