Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Phlebotomy certification or formal training, or 1+ year phlebotomy experience in healthcare is required.
• Experience with EMR systems and bilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and other lab specimen collections per age-related standards.
• Provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care.
• Identifies need for patient medical assistance and calls code as appropriate.
• Reviews refrigerator temperatures and QC/QA records; reports issues.
• Uses manual requisitions and labels specimens correctly.
• Labels and processes specimens per protocols and policies.
• Procures blood specimens from infants to elderly patients.
• Maintains competency for age-related responsibilities.
• Operates and maintains equipment pertinent to the job.
• Communicates results and updates to client office staff.
• Obtains physician orders with required information for lab tests.
• Prioritizes tasks and multi-tasks effectively.
• Maintains low recollection/cancellation rate.
• Adheres to patient safety goals and proper hand hygiene.
• Maintains professional demeanor and timely information to patients.
• Communicates issues to Laboratory/Physician to ensure optimal care.
• Follows up on test results with appropriate individuals.
