Job summary

Menlo School is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and Finance Operations Specialist to join the Business Office on campus five days a week. You will manage payroll for all staff, maintain records, and ensure compliance with applicable laws while supporting broader accounting functions.

The role requires 3+ years of payroll experience, proficiency in Paylocity and Blackbaud Financial Edge, and a BS/BA in a related field. CPP is a plus; competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; CPP is a plus.
• 3+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in education or nonprofit with California payroll laws.
• Proficiency in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong knowledge of payroll software and general accounting principles.
• Excellent communication and confidentiality handling.

Responsibilities

• Process, review, and manage payroll for all employees with timely processing of timecards, salary changes, stipends, and deductions.
• Maintain payroll records including employee information, pay rates, and deductions.
• Track sick leave, vacation balances, and other time-off accruals.
• Respond to payroll inquiries on wages, deductions, and garnishments.
• Lead year-end payroll reporting (W-2s, 1095s) and retirement plan administration.
• Stay compliant with federal, state, and local payroll laws.
