Job summary

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is hiring a part-time Customer Service Advocate II to join our Florence team. You will respond to routine inquiries about claims or appeals and identify incorrectly processed claims for adjustments and reprocessing.

This role is on-site in Florence, 20 hours per week, with training hours initially 8:00 am to 4:30 pm for five weeks. The position emphasizes strong communication, accuracy, and the ability to handle confidential information.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years of customer service experience OR 1 year of claims/appeals processing experience plus 1 year of customer service, OR Bachelor's degree in lieu of work experience.

Responsibilities

• Respond to telephone inquiries and routine correspondence per desk procedures to meet timeliness, productivity, and quality objectives.
• Identify incorrectly processed claims and complete adjustments and reprocessing actions per department guidelines; initiate recoupments as needed.
• Handle more complex inquiries by escalating to a lead or manager; identify potential fraud and abuse situations.
• Complete projects related to claims processing and customer service within the department.
