Job summary

Mainspring Recovery in Lynchburg, VA seeks a Director of Nursing to lead the nursing department in a residential and outpatient SUD setting. The DON will supervise RNs, LPNs, and Medication Aides, ensure safe, patient-centered care, and ensure compliance with CARF accreditation standards.

The DON will oversee medication management, nursing documentation, staff training, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This role reports to the Executive Director/COO and will shape nursing policies,

Qualifications

• RN with Virginia license in good standing.
• Graduated from accredited School of Nursing (ADN/BSN).
• BSN preferred or higher degree where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily nursing operations and lead the nursing team to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Hire, supervise, and manage nursing staff; maintain staffing across all shifts.
• Provide direct coverage when required.
• Oversee medication management, storage, administration, and reconciliation.
• Oversee nursing documentation quality, audits, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage department finances and stay within budget.
• Provide nursing guidance for complex patient presentations, including co-occurring disorders.
• Lead interdisciplinary treatment team involvement, quality improvement, and data reporting.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies and health care protocols.
• Prepare and submit required incident and regulatory reports on schedule.
