Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT) is a US-based, Fortune 1000 defense and energy innovator hiring a Senior Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer for on-site work in Lynchburg, Virginia. You will perform NCS evaluations, model normal operations, assess accident sequences, and ensure NRC compliance while supporting DOE clearance processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of NCS experience.
• Working knowledge of SCALE/KENO.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Perform Nuclear Criticality Safety evaluations to define safety basis for operation of facilities, equipment, or processes involving uranium bearing materials.
• Execute computer models to evaluate normal operations and upsets relative to NRC License limits.
• Evaluate accident sequences and designate Items Relied on For Safety to prevent a criticality accident.
• Conduct surveillance, inspections, and audits to ensure NRC License requirements are met.
• Provide NCS input and oversight to operating areas as needed.
