Job summary
The City of Escondido Information Systems Department seeks an experienced Network Systems Engineer to design, manage and advance technology critical to public services. You will work in a collaborative team supporting City operations, emergency response, water, transportation and community development.
Under general direction, you will install, configure, test, and administer LAN/WAN networks; support various network components; and lead upgrades and security enhancements to ensure reliable
Qualifications
- Knowledge of network system design, installation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of hardware and software configuration and installation.
- Experience with Windows server platforms and security configurations.
- Familiarity with WAN/LAN technologies, VOIP, VPN, and routing protocols.
- Ability to analyze and resolve highly technical networking issues.
Responsibilities
- Develop, install, test and administer City LAN/WAN networks and related devices.
- Configure network hardware and software; troubleshoot server and networked devices.
- Monitor network security and performance; address unauthorized access and risks.
- Provide advanced desktop support and handle complex hardware/software problems.
- Produce system documentation and procedural manuals.
