Job summary

City of Hayward seeks a Network Systems Specialist to design, deploy, monitor, and optimize the City's Local and Wide Area networks and related systems. The role includes overseeing network security, backups, and vendor coordination to ensure reliable connectivity for City departments and the Internet.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in configuring switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and network management software, with a focus on security and performance.

Qualifications

• The candidate has a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a computer-related field.
• Experience with local and wide area networks and network hardware.
• CCNP or CCNA certification and a valid California driver's license are required.

Responsibilities

• Administer City LAN/WAN networks and Internet connectivity.
• Install, configure, and maintain switches, routers, firewalls, and cabling.
• Analyze network activity and perform performance tuning.
• Prepare documentation and reports, manage projects and budgets as needed.
