Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Mobile Mechanic to perform intermediate service and repair on tractors, trailers, and related equipment. The role operates outside of the shop, servicing units at customer sites or rail yards with a mobile service truck.

The Mobile Technician II works under routine supervision, handling preventive maintenance, electrical diagnostics, ABS troubleshooting, and mid-level repairs while ensuring safety and accurate documentation of work orders and repairs.

Qualifications

• 18+ for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21+ for heavier equipment, with 2 years of maintenance/repair experience.
• Clean motor vehicle record per JB Hunt guidelines.
• Own basic tools or buy via toolbox program.
• Willing to work outdoors in the elements.
• Able to work across multiple shifts including nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform intermediate preventive maintenance and repairs on tractors/trailers.
• Troubleshoot and repair ABS systems.
• Operate mobile service truck and manage truck inventory.
• Mentor tractor technician trainees.
• Follow safety requirements onsite and at customer locations.
• Document work orders and costs accurately.
• Use cutting torch and welding for mid-level repairs.
• Patch holes and perform inspections on trailers/containers.
