Job summary

First Choice Urgent Care is hiring a Data Entry Specialist to join our on-site team. You will enter patient and visit information in our EMR (Athena), support billing processes, and assist with basic coding tasks as needed.

Experience with medical billing and claim processing is a strong plus, and you will interact with multiple payers to verify eligibility and manage follow-up when necessary. This is an on-site role with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in medical billing, coding or outstanding AR is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with payer types including commercial, Medicare and Medicaid.
• Proficient in using multiple platforms for eligibility checks, claim submission, and insurance portal navigation.
• Strong attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Dependable, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Accurately enter information into our EMR system (Athena).
• Support billing operations including claim correction and documentation.
• Assist with basic coding tasks when needed.
• Insurance eligibility and verification.
• Managing outstanding AR workflows, including patient balances and insurance follow-up.
• Communicate with billing staff and insurance companies as needed.
• Provide additional administrative support to ensure smooth clinic operations.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality.
