Job summary

Position is PRN / per-appointment with hours during clinic operations. RID/NIC certification and 2+ years medical interpreting experience are required, with HIPAA compliance and reliable transportation needed.

Qualifications

• RID or NIC certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of professional ASL interpreting experience in medical/clinical settings.
• Fluency in both American Sign Language and English.
• Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and PHI protection.
• Reliable transportation to 3750 Chemawa Road NE, Salem, OR and ability to pass background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, impartial, in-person ASL interpretation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients during scheduled clinical appointments.
• Interpret complex medical terminology, clinical discussions, treatment options, and provider instructions accurately.
• Maintain HIPAA privacy and facility conduct rules.
• Log and confirm accepted assignment schedules with advance notice (typically 72+ hours prior to appointments).
• Provide occasional Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) coverage when in-person attendance is not feasible.
