Jacobs is seeking an On-Site Mechanical Engineer for a project near Baton Rouge, LA. The role reports as the field representative for mechanical systems, coordinating between construction and engineering design teams to ensure installation, testing, and commissioning proceed smoothly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of mechanical design, construction, commissioning, or operations experience; or 5+ years in hyperscale data center environments.
• Experience with chilled water systems, cooling plants, CRAH/CRAC systems, piping systems, and mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as on-site representative for HVAC, cooling, piping and other mechanical systems.
• Conduct daily site observations and assess installation progress.
• Coordinate design clarifications and field solutions with project stakeholders.
• Support RFIs, submittals, equipment substitutions, and field conflicts.
• Assist with constructability reviews, BIM coordination, and mockup evaluations.
• Identify and document installation deficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Support factory testing, bench testing, startup activities, and commissioning preparation.
• Coordinate with QA/QC and commissioning teams to resolve installation issues.
• Attend project meetings and provide technical guidance on mechanical systems.
• Issue weekly reports summarizing observations, risks, corrective actions, and schedule impacts.
• Proactively identify design, quality, and schedule risks and support resolution strategies.
