Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Euclid, Ohio is seeking a Materials Engineer Intern to join the Materials Engineering team.

You will provide hands-on technical and administrative support, with a focus on metallurgical principles, material properties, testing, and heat treating, reporting to the Materials Engineering Manager. Ideal candidates are enrolled in a Materials Science and Engineering BS program, detail‑oriented, and possess strong verbal communication.

Qualifications

• Enrollment into a Materials Science and Engineering BS program.
• Attention to detail and self-motivation to complete tasks thoroughly.
• Strong verbal skills and clear, concise compositional skills.

Responsibilities

• Metallurgical laboratory support, including metallographic preparation and analysis, SEM, and limited chemical and mechanical testing.
• Hands-on and administrative support of materials-related projects/studies/investigations including forging, thermal processing, plating, corrosion and cleaning processes.
• Hands-on heat treatment of tooling and R&D material.
• Interpret/understand material, processing and testing specifications/standards.
• Research and understand metallurgical phenomena.
• Materials-related data analysis and database creation/management.
• Work with Materials, NDE, Quality, Purchasing, Floor Supervisors/Personnel and Suppliers as needed.
