Job summary

Specialized Packaging Group in Newark, CA is seeking a Junior Planner / Production Coordinator to oversee and coordinate planning of work orders to meet customer delivery deadlines. You will build and manage production schedules, review material lead times, and schedule orders based on labor and materials, while coordinating on the shop floor with production supervisors and customer service.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field preferred (or equivalent work experience).
2+ years of manufacturing experience with ERP system.
3+ years of Excel experience (VLOOKUP, pivots, SUMIFs).
Basic understanding of production planning concepts (MRP, capacity planning, inventory management).
Packaging industry experience preferred or willingness to learn on site.

Responsibilities

Review the production schedule and ERP system daily; plan, prepare, and control production schedules to meet requirements.
Schedule equipment and personnel; adjust schedules for shortages, downtime, or priority changes.
Support material requirements planning by verifying inventory and flagging shortages.
Track WIP and update ERP/MRP with order status.
Collaborate with procurement on material delivery timelines and occasional direct purchasing.
Coordinate with design on material substitutions and BOM audits.
Monitor labor hours and ensure staffing aligns with workload.
Maintain accurate production records and participate in continuous improvement.
