Job summary

Mount Nittany Health in State College, PA, seeks a qualified Practical Nurse to join our on-site team. You will provide general nursing care, administer prescribed medications, prepare patients for examinations, and document care in the medical record under provider guidance.

In this fast-paced clinic, you will greet patients, assess vital signs, and coordinate tests and referrals while maintaining safety standards and patient education.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
• One year nursing experience preferred.
• Pennsylvania Practical Nurse License.
• Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.

Responsibilities

• Provide general nursing care and administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Greet patients and prepare them for examination and treatment; take histories and vital signs.
• Screen patients for information and observe/report condition and drug reactions.
• Screen and prioritize patient calls; record information in patient chart.
• Assist with equipment and provider during treatment and testing.
• Perform tests and document results in the patient’s medical record.
• Evaluate and respond to urgent emergencies.
• Document care timely in the medical record.
• Participate in quality improvement activities.
• Instruct patients on self-care and interpret provider instructions.
• Coordinate referrals, appointments, testing and admissions.
• Call pharmacies with prescriptions per instructions.
• Perform other duties as required.
