Job summary

Buckland is seeking an On-Site Logistics Supervisor in Battle Creek, MI. You will act as Buckland's dedicated representative in the customer facility, coordinating inbound logistics, ocean freight, warehousing, and last-mile delivery to ensure material availability and production continuity.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in freight forwarding or international logistics, including customer-facing roles, with Hindi fluency and credentials such as IATA/FMC.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, International Business or related field.
  • 7+ years in freight forwarding or international logistics, incl. 3+ years in customer-facing roles.
  • Hindi fluency is a must-have requirement.
  • Strong knowledge of international ocean import/export, carrier management, and procurement.
  • Experience creating SOPs, KPIs, and operational processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management systems.
  • US air and ocean credentials including IATA and FMC.
  • CargoWise or similar TMS experience.
  • Project management and/or continuous improvement experience.
  • Legally eligible to work for the Company; passport to travel CAD/USA/MEX if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary operational contact for assigned strategic accounts and build strong relationships.
  • Manage day-to-day international ocean import/export operations and scheduling.
  • Coordinate with customers, carriers, overseas offices, NVOCCs and drayage providers.
  • Develop and maintain customer SOPs, KPIs, workflows, and service standards.
  • Lead customer business reviews and provide performance reports with insights.
  • Investigate and resolve service issues, claims, and supply chain risks.
  • Support carrier procurement, rate management, and transportation solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

What you’ll be doing

The Onsite Logistics Supervisor serves as Buckland's dedicated representative within the customer facility, responsible for managing and coordinating inbound logistics activities, including international ocean freight, domestic transportation, warehousing, and final-mile delivery. The role works directly with customer stakeholders, suppliers, carriers, and Buckland operations teams to ensure material availability, mitigate supply chain risks, support production continuity, and deliver exceptional customer service.

You will be responsible for
  • Serve as the primary operational contact for assigned strategic accounts and build strong customer relationships.
  • Manage day-to-day international ocean import and export operations, including shipment coordination and exception resolution.
  • Coordinate with customers, carriers, overseas offices, NVOCCs, drayage providers, and other logistics partners.
  • Develop and maintain customer-specific SOPs, KPIs, workflows, and service standards.
  • Lead customer business reviews and provide performance reports with operational insights
  • Investigate and resolve service issues, claims, escalations, and supply chain risks that may impact production
  • Support carrier procurement, rate management, and transportation solutions.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement, service enhancement, and operational efficiency.
  • Support customer implementations, onboarding, account growth, profitability, and retention initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Customs Brokerage, Finance, and other internal teams to deliver integrated customer solutions.
  • Provide guidance and operational support to team members involved in assigned accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, customer, and company requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What we need from you
  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, International Business, Commerce, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of freight forwarding or international logistics experience, including 3+ years in customer-facing account management or strategic customer support.
  • Fluency in Hindi is a must-have requirement.
  • Strong knowledge of international ocean import/export operations, complex transportation programs, carrier management, and procurement.
  • Experience developing customer SOPs, KPIs, and operational processes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management systems.
  • Relevant US air and ocean credentials including IATA and FMC.
  • Experience supporting high-volume ocean freight programs, particularly within automotive OEM or Tier 1 environments.
  • CargoWise or similar TMS experience.
  • Project management and/or continuous improvement experience.
  • Must be legally eligible to work for the Company at all times.
  • Valid Passport ability to occasionally travel if required to other offices locations in CAD/USA/MEX.
