Job summary

Thalle Construction Co., Inc. is seeking a Lead Estimator to manage the entire estimating process on assigned heavy civil projects, including complex and alternative-delivery pursuits. You will lead estimating teams, set strategy, articulate risk, and partner with the Proposal team to pursue opportunities.

The role reports to the Chief Estimator and requires building strong relationships with customers, design teams, subcontractors, and vendors while maintaining Thalle’s core values.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of heavy civil construction and delivery methods.
• Lead estimating team and full-scope estimates.
• Strong risk and opportunity analysis.
• Advanced negotiation and communication skills.
• Proficiency with HCSS, Agtek, Revit, Rhino, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead the estimating team in the full estimate deliverable process for projects.
• Analyze drawings and specs to determine scope of work.
• Develop full-scope estimates for Bid-Build, Design-Build, CM/GC.
• Assess risks and opportunities and communicate to management.
• Organize bid team and lead means, methods, and schedule.
• Contribute to technical proposals and write narratives for RFPs.
• Provide detailed quantity takeoffs and unit costs.
• Solicit and analyze subcontractor pricing and manage subs database.
• Monitor cost vs. estimate and maintain cost history.
• Collaborate with Proposal team and Procurement Lead on DOR.
• Coordinate with field for updates and bid reviews.
