Job summary

Helix in San Diego is seeking an Automations Service Engineer to diagnose and repair laboratory automation equipment on-site, ensuring production workflows run smoothly. You will calibrate and maintain instrumentation, document all activities, and work with the team to resolve recurring issues.

The role requires 1+ year hands-on lab equipment experience, familiarity with SOPs, and strong communication. A bachelor's degree in engineering or bioscience is valued, with additional experience in

Qualifications

• 1+ year hands-on experience with laboratory equipment.
• Familiarity with basic laboratory procedures and SOP/documentation processes
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Mechanically inclined and comfortable using tools and technical service docs
• Calm under pressure when systems are down and production is waiting

Responsibilities

• Own on-site, immediate diagnostics of laboratory automation equipment issues for the production team.
• Calibrate, maintain, and repair laboratory automation equipment using established service guides and SOPs.
• Document all service, repair, and maintenance activities in accordance with QA requirements.
• Collaborate with the Automations team to resolve recurring equipment issues.
• Apply knowledge of automation instrumentation, including liquid handlers and supporting systems.
