Job summary

Personalis, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Automation Service Engineer to provide site-wide support, maintenance, and calibration of clinical laboratory instruments in accordance with CLIA, CAP and GCLP guidelines.

You will collaborate with Operations, QA, Research, and Tech Transfer teams to ensure high uptime and quality. The role includes installation, configuration, repair, preventive maintenance, qualification reports (IQ/OQ/PQ), and creating SOPs and knowledge resources.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering or related discipline with 5+ years industry experience.
• Extensive service experience for life science equipment incl Hamilton robotics and automated systems.
• Experience with Hamilton STAR PM, servicing Verso, and calibration activities.
• Experience in regulated environments (ISO 13485, CLIA/CAP) desirable.
• Strong communication, collaboration and on‑call rotation capability.

Responsibilities

• Be the first line of contact for equipment support and communicate with lab users and process teams.
• Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on lab equipment and automated systems.
• Build rapport with end-users, lab supervisors, and process owners to ensure support and growth.
• Plan and execute preventive maintenance, instrument service, and qualifications.
• Author and execute IQ/OQ/PQ qualification reports and maintain PM records.
• Monitor PM schedules to ensure proper calibration and timely maintenance.
• Develop SOPs and update internal knowledgebase for distribution.
• Establish service level objectives and up‑time metrics.
• Support Process Development with qualification of new or revised processes and systems.
• Coordinate duties with other Automation Service Engineers and participate in on‑call rotation.
