Job summary

QED Technologies International LLC is seeking a Junior Optics Technician for its Rochester, NY location. This on-site role involves assisting with setup, operation, and maintenance of grinding, polishing, and metrology equipment to manufacture precision optical components.

The position reports to the QED Optics Operations Manager and offers training to grow technical skills. The successful candidate will join a team focused on quality, safety, and process improvement, with opportunities to learn

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of manufacturing, optics, photonics, quality inspection, or related technical environments.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and in a team after training.
• Ability to sit/stand and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming, in-process, and final optical components using inspection tools.
• Record production, inspection, and process data accurately.
• Support technicians and engineers with manufacturing and process development.
• Follow work instructions and travelers to complete activities.
• Prepare tooling for grinding, polishing, and metrology.
• Load and handle precision optical components safely.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
