Job summary

Florida Virtual School is seeking an Instructor for the Florida Scholars Academy in St. Augustine, FL. This on-site role focuses on delivering engaging instruction to at-risk students in residential facilities and aligns with state policies for student progress.

The position requires a Florida teaching certificate, a bachelor’s degree, and commitment to blended learning with online and in-person teaching components across multiple facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
• Valid Florida Professional Teaching Certificate in content area assigned OR active enrollment in a state-approved EPI or MAT program AND either a valid Florida State-issued Statement of Eligibility OR valid Temporary Certificate.
• Exceptional Student Educational (ESE) Certification, preferred
• Gifted Endorsement, preferred
• English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Endorsement, preferred
• Reading Endorsement, preferred

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and implement engaging instructional activities in assigned subject(s).
• Identify, select, create, and modify instructional resources for diverse learners.
• Be responsible for supervising students and maintaining attendance records.
• Maintain effective record keeping procedures and classroom discipline.
• Collaborate with supervisor and peers to enhance instruction.
• Communicate with students, parents/guardians, and stakeholders within timelines.
• Model professional and ethical standards in dealings with students and families.
• Meet course and school-wide performance goals.
• Participate in blended learning models and report to assigned facility.
