SmartStop Self Storage is seeking an HR Generalist to support the Director of People & Culture across multiple regions. You will manage recruitment, onboarding, compliance, and HR operations to deliver an outstanding employee experience.

The role requires a California-focused, hands-on approach with 3+ years in HR Generalist work. Competitive salary and benefits are offered with a strong emphasis on culture and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field.
• 3+ years of HR Generalist experience in a multi-site, multi-state company.
• Hands-on HR experience in California (required).

Responsibilities

• Own the corporate recruitment process end-to-end for the corporate office, ensuring a positive candidate experience.
• Process store-level hires and terminations including offers and background checks.
• Manage leaves of absence and workers’ compensation claims in assigned districts.
• Serve as main HR contact for field staff in assigned region(s).
• Provide guidance to Regional and District Managers within the region.
• Handle unemployment and workers’ comp claims with proper documentation.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and update policies as needed.
• Act as subject matter expert for HR-related software and platforms.
• Maintain HRIS and ATS data accuracy through reports and audits.
