Job summary

SmartStop Self Storage is seeking an HR Generalist to support recruitment, onboarding, and compliance across multiple regions. You will report to the Director of People & Culture and act as a trusted partner for store teams and corporate offices.

You’ll manage full-cycle recruitment, new-hire processing, leaves, and workers’ compensation, while ensuring HRIS/ATS data accuracy and adherence to regulations. This on-site role in California emphasizes partnering with managers and driving a positive

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR or related field is required.
• 3+ years of HR Generalist experience in a multi-site, multi-state company.
• Hands-on HR experience in California is required.
• Experience with HRIS and Applicant Tracking systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own corporate recruitment process from start to finish, partnering with corporate office hiring managers.
• Handle store-level new hires, terminations, background checks, and internal forms.
• Manage leaves of absence and workers' compensation claims within designated districts.
• Serve as primary HR contact for field staff within assigned regions and support managers.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Maintain HRIS and ATS data accuracy and generate routine reports.
