Job summary

Crossroads Rhode Island is seeking an experienced, hands-on leader to serve as Director of Summer Street Apartments, a 176-unit Permanent Supportive Housing community serving adults who have experienced homelessness. The Director is the on-site leader, ensuring a safe, well-maintained, financially sound, compliant, and welcoming community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, social work, property management, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
• Seven or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in affordable housing, permanent supportive housing, homeless services, healthcare, property management, or a related field.
• LIHTC certification or ability to obtain certification within six months.
• Experience with HUD and affordable housing programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations with a hands-on presence throughout the building.
• Oversee leasing and occupancy, including applications, certifications, recertifications, move-ins, move-outs, unit turnover, and occupancy performance.
• Partner with Facilities to ensure the building is safe, clean, well-maintained, and responsive to resident and operational needs.
• Support compliance with LIHTC, HUD, RAD, PBV, VASH, Section 811, Fair Housing, and other applicable requirements.
• Manage financial performance in partnership with Finance and senior leadership, including rent collection, subsidy payments, expenses, budgeting, and financial performance.
• Supervise, coach, and develop staff, ensuring strong communication, accountability, staffing coverage, and teamwork across shifts.
• Coordinate across departments including Housing, Supportive Services, Facilities, Compliance, Finance, Human Resources, and other Crossroads teams.
• Develop external partnerships with service providers, government agencies, funders, investors, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
• Support safety, risk management, emergency response, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Help advance Crossroads’ mission, strategic priorities, and values of Safety, Respect, and Effectiveness.
• Other duties as assigned.
