Job summary

gpac is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic in the Savannah area to repair and maintain a fleet of earthmoving and pipeline heavy equipment on customer sites. The role requires diagnosing failures, ordering parts, and documenting work, with safety a priority.

Candidates should have hands-on experience with mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and CAN/BUS systems, plus the ability to read schematics and use diagnostic tools. On-site work with travel to customer sites is expected.

Qualifications

• 2 years technical training or equivalent heavy equipment experience.
• Ability to read schematics and repair CAN/BUS systems.
• Maintain a minimum tool set for diagnosing and repairing most equipment.
• Basic oxy/acetylene cutting and welding skills.
• Forklift certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of mechanical, hydro-static, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems.
• Diagnose equipment failures and perform repairs using diagnostic tools.
• Record diagnoses, order parts, and estimate repair times.
• Attend required technician training classes.
• Follow safety precautions on job sites.
