Job summary

STS Technical Services is hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment Technician in Savannah, Georgia, to support a start-up industrial operation. The role involves inspecting, diagnosing and repairing forklifts, rubber tire cranes and related equipment, with emphasis on hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic skills, be able to work independently, and understand safety, reliability and uptime in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two or more years of experience repairing forklifts, cranes, heavy equipment or similar machinery.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems.
• Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic diagrams.
• Ability to use computerized diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to use standard mechanic’s tools.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple requests.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics and repairs on forklifts, rubber tire cranes and related heavy equipment.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems.
• Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines.
• Troubleshoot transmissions, drive systems, brakes, steering and cooling systems.
• Inspect equipment for defects, safety concerns and potential mechanical failures.
• Complete lubrication, fluid checks, adjustments and component replacements.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify and correct equipment problems.
• Read electrical schematics and hydraulic diagrams.
• Maintain accurate service records and inspection reports.
