Job summary

Planate Management Group in Grand Junction, CO, is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to provide on-site oversight of healthcare facility projects for the VA Hospital Grand Junction. You will ensure compliance with contract requirements, coordinate between construction activities and facility occupants, perform inspections, and advise on design reviews and constructability.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent, 3+ years in civil/construction management, and strong

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience related to job duties and functions
• Three (3) or more years of civil/construction management work experience, preferably healthcare or hospital facilities
• Knowledgeable in construction scheduling methods and in building and construction crafts
• Good English communication both written and oral
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office suites
• Previous experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs is an advantage

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and mentorship in the completion of construction work and the documentation and inspection of construction quality
• Monitor the means and methods of the construction contractor, providing oversight and direction to ensure compliance with contractual, safety and quality requirements
• Review contractor submittals for compliance, provide approval and/or guidance to the government
• Perform field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used and verify quality of workmanship
• Ensure compliance with the design, specifications, standards and applicable codes and regulations
• Identify and track deficiencies and deviations from plans; work with the construction team to mitigate and resolve
• Review and implement construction safety and quality programs, ensure health, safety and environmental (HSE) regulations
• Review project plans and specifications for technical soundness and determine practicability from a construction management standpoint
• Provide design input and oversight related to constructability and other engineering disciplines
• Visit project sites to obtain information on facility/site conditions and develop recommendations during project development
• Support the development of procurement packages for design and construction
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
