Job summary

DRS RADA Technologies, a defense-focused unit of Leonardo DRS, seeks a Software Engineer II on-site in Germantown, MD to design, build, and maintain modern front-end and full-stack features supporting radar systems.

You will work with TypeScript, React, and REST APIs, collaborating with backend, systems, and test teams to convert complex requirements into usable software. U.S. citizenship and potential DoD clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, plus at least two years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Experience developing production user interfaces using TypeScript and a modern component-based framework such as React, React Native, or Angular.
• Experience integrating front-end applications with backend services, APIs, data sources, or system workflows.
• Experience with at least one backend language such as Node.js, Python, C#, Java, or similar.
• Experience using Git and working in a collaborative software development environment.
• U.S. citizenship is required; ability to obtain DoD security clearance may be required for future program work.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, debug, and maintain front-end applications and full-stack features that support mission-critical radar and defense systems.
• Develop user-facing application features using TypeScript, React, and related front-end technologies.
• Integrate user interfaces with backend services, REST APIs, data sources, and system workflows.
• Collaborate with backend, systems, integration, and test engineers to turn complex requirements into usable software features.
• Help turn limited requirements, CONOPS, and user workflows into practical application designs that can be reviewed, refined, and implemented.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, testing, documentation, and delivery of production-quality software.
• Help improve usability, reliability, maintainability, and consistency across application features.
• Learn relevant domain concepts such as radar workflows, Linux-based environments, and mission-system operations.
