Job summary

Pavecon LTD, a Dallas, Texas–based paving contractor, seeks a Fleet Mechanic for a full-time, on-site position in Houston. You will maintain and repair trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment used in paving and construction, performing routine and preventive maintenance and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues.

You will conduct safety inspections, document work performed, and ensure all equipment meets company standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong maintenance skills in general, preventive maintenance, and repair of vehicles and equipment.
• Experience with heavy equipment used in construction or paving.
• Proficiency diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
• Knowledge of safety practices, OSHA and DOT regulations, and proper use of tools.
• Prior experience as a fleet mechanic or diesel mechanic in construction/industrial setting.
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance records.
• High school diploma or equivalent; ASE/diesel certifications are a plus.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred.
• Able to work on-site, lift heavy loads, and perform in varying weather.
• Effective communication and teamwork with field and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on company vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and complete repairs.
• Conduct safety inspections and document work performed.
• Ensure equipment compliance with company standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with operations and field teams to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime.
