Job summary

Liebherr-Rental Ltd. in Sheffield is seeking a proactive Field Service Engineer to service heavy plant and construction equipment at customer sites and depots.

You will diagnose faults, carry out servicing, maintenance and commissioning to maximise machine availability. The role requires strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical skills, proven fault-finding, and the ability to work independently with excellent communication.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 engineering apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Proven fault-finding and repair on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Experience in a customer-facing field service role.
• Good IT literacy and ability to complete reports accurately.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, servicing, diagnostics, commissioning, maintenance and repairs at customer sites and depots.
• Diagnose faults accurately and implement repairs to minimise downtime.
• Commission machines and provide basic operator familiarisation and handovers.
• Develop strong relationships with customers and maintenance teams, offering proactive service.
• Identify wear trends and maintenance needs to prevent failures and improve reliability.
• Produce detailed service reports outlining findings and corrective actions.
