Job summary

Clean Harbors in Eagan, MN is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste in accordance with regulations. This entry-level role is customer-facing and will operate both indoors and outdoors at plants, labs, and customer sites.

The position offers opportunities for growth, on-the-job training, and advancement into management roles. Requires CDL B hazmat within 6 months, strong customer service, and physical readiness.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Strong customer service skills are essential.
• CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
• Must be able to perform physical functions per job requirements.
• Must successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical.
• Per OSHA respiratory protection standard, facial hair rules apply for respirator users.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety is the top priority and follow safe work practices.
• Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction notifications.
• Inspect staging, accumulation, and storage areas for compliance and housekeeping.
• Inspect drums for leaks, spills, and labeling compliance.
• Package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and compliance.
• Perform field assignments at customer locations and with Clean Harbors projects.
• Prepare and approve projects before shipment per OSHA/EPA/DOT policies.
• Conduct projects per site-specific regulations and health and safety plans.
• Understand customer disposal restrictions and special packaging requirements.
• Sample and profile new waste streams or waste needing analytical testing.
• Ensure drum counts and condition meet shipping requirements.
