Job summary

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company is seeking an on-site Cost Analyst in the Charleston area to track and analyze principal expenses, ensure accurate posting of vendor costs, and help drive cost-saving initiatives. You will work across departments to validate provisional expenses and implement robust accounting controls.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance, advanced Excel (and familiarity with Access/Power BI), and strong analytical abilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (a must)
Advanced proficiency of MS Excel (a must)
Ability to develop processes and design process manuals

Responsibilities

Tracks, records, files and analyses inside and outside terminal expenses and their related financial data.
Ensures accuracy in principal cost estimation and timely submission of provisional expenses.
Collaborates with other departments to ensure on time and accurate daily posting of operational vendor expenses.
Verifies principal costs debited against the provisional expenses reported and justify for the variances.
Estimates and analyzes principal expenses with the aim of reducing costs and achieve savings.
Identifies and initiates improvement areas, developing accounting control procedures and best practices to enhance overall accounting operations, work quality and efficiency.
Observes and follows company policies, compliances, and procedures.
Record-keeps and reports in a structured and organized matter.
Re-confirms Cost Control approval or rejects blocked invoices with amounts over budget.
Presence required on-site 5 days per week
Performs other related duties as assigned.
This role requires working on-site in the office for five days a week, from Monday to Friday. There is no option for fully remote or hybrid work in this role, unless required off-site duties are being performed.
