EASTERN IOWA COMMUNITY COLLEGES is seeking a Building and Event Assistant to support daily operations, hospitality, and events at the Bickelhaupt arboretum in Clinton, IA. The role is 30-39 hours per week, on-site, with benefit eligibility, and requires someone who can engagingly host visitors and coordinate event logistics.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year of experience in hospitality, event support, customer service, or related field.
• Strong interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to safety and cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Welcome, host, and conduct informative tours for visitors and clients.
• Provide excellent customer service and accurate information about the facility and events.
• Coordinate setup and teardown of events, arranging tables, chairs, signage, and basic AV.
• Collaborate with internal departments to support programming and events.
• Monitor the facility during shifts to ensure a clean, safe environment.
• Serve as on-site liaison for event hosts, vendors, and attendees, addressing inquiries.
• Ensure spaces are secured and reset after events or building hours.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership to support operations.
• Assist external customers.
