Job summary

TAPP Workforce Solutions Inc. is recruiting for a hands-on Environmental Technician in Eclectic, AL to support a premier industrial manufacturer. You will operate automated degreasing systems and manage on-site wastewater treatment, ensuring compliance and quality in production.

You’ll work with the Environmental Manager as part of the EH&S team, read test results, adjust process chemistry, and document logs while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance on site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1–3 years in industrial manufacturing or processing.
• Working understanding of basic chemistry, pH neutralization and precipitation reactions.
• Comfort with titrations, bench testing and instrument calibration.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with pumps, piping and chemical feed systems.
• Experience with Excel, Outlook, and digital logbooks.
• Ability to work 8–12 hour shifts, lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/catwalks, wear chemical PPE.
• Experience in wastewater treatment, filter presses, or metal-finishing is a plus.
• Vocational training in wastewater, chemistry, environmental science or industrial maintenance.
• Forklift/PIT certification and OSHA HAZCOM or 24/40-Hour HAZWOPER training.

Responsibilities

• Operate automated degreasing systems to meet quality and production standards.
• Run and document titrations and adjust chemical feeds from results.
• Operate wastewater treatment (precipitation, pH adjustment, oil/grease separation, sludge dewatering).
• Use pH testing and process measurements to set chemical dosages.
• Collect compliance samples and coordinate chain-of-custody with labs.
• Maintain plate-and-frame filter presses and manage sludge disposal.
• Receive, stage, inventory bulk chemicals and coordinate reorders.
• Calibrate instruments, maintain metering pumps and feed lines, troubleshoot issues.
• Keep logs and discharge records; report deviations or releases.
