Every part that leaves this plant is clean, and every gallon of water that leaves it is compliant. You’re the reason why.
We’re partnering with a premier industrial manufacturer in the Eclectic, Alabama area to hire a hands-on Environmental Technician. You’ll run their automated degreasing systems and their on-site industrial wastewater treatment system. If you’ve worked in industrial manufacturing and want a role where you use your head as much as your hands, this is it.
Why you’ll want this role
- You’ll own two critical systems and the chemistry that runs them, not one narrow task
- You’ll have the autonomy to read your own test results and adjust the process yourself
- You’ll work directly with the Environmental Manager as part of the EH&S team
- You’ll gain compliance sampling, chain-of-custody and permit experience that most operators never get
- You’ll join a stable, established manufacturer with a clear path toward wastewater operations, EHS or environmental compliance
What you’ll be doing
- Operate automated degreasing systems so metal parts meet strict quality and production standards
- Run and document titrations, and adjust chemical feeds and bath chemistry from your results
- Operate continuous and batch wastewater treatment, including precipitation, pH adjustment, oil/grease separation and sludge dewatering
- Use pH testing, jar testing and process control measurements to set chemical dosages
- Collect compliance samples and coordinate chain-of-custody with certified third-party labs
- Run and maintain plate-and-frame filter presses, and manage sludge through to disposal
- Receive, stage and inventory bulk chemicals (totes, drums, carboys) and coordinate reorders
- Calibrate instruments, maintain metering pumps and feed lines, and troubleshoot issues
- Keep accurate logs and discharge records, and elevate any permit deviation, leak or release right away
What you bring
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 to 3 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing or processing environment
- A working understanding of basic chemistry, pH neutralization and precipitation reactions
- Comfort with wet titrations, bench testing and instrument calibration
- Strong mechanical aptitude with pumps, piping and chemical feed systems
- Comfort with Excel, Outlook and digital logbooks
- Ability to work 8 to 12 hour shifts on your feet, lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and catwalks, and wear chemical PPE
- Industrial wastewater treatment, filter press, or aqueous parts-washing/metal-finishing experience
- Vocational training in wastewater, chemistry, environmental science or industrial maintenance
- Forklift/PIT certification, OSHA HAZCOM or 24/40-Hour HAZWOPER training
